THERE ARE FIVE KEY STYLES TO FASHION AND THEY ARE:
There are obviously more styles than these but from these ones more branch off.
And they are:
1) Classic Style.
2) Preppy Style.
3) Free Style.
4) Modern Style.
5) Athletic Style/ Athleisure,
...and more.
I touched on these in an earlier post linked here:
Let's go through them one by one :
The Classic Style : is a collection of clothes that have stood the test of time and always look super classy and very elegant.
They are especially easy to mix and match as they are almost always in block colours. I've mentioned block colour in my colour theory post, they are one full colour per garment, for example all black, all white, or any other colour. The style of clothing is usually traditional, not overly trendy or fashionable, and are made of good quality materials and have a streamline design,
not much froo froo going on. And not much pattern (eg: florals).
The most famous brands are Chanel, Dior and Gucci.

The Preppy Style: is also a classic style but with a twist. It is a specific look and as soon as you see it you'll recognize it. It is sometimes associated with golfing gear, the look is similar but made in a more trendy way. It is always made of very high quality fabrics and materials. And mostly made with beige, white, navy and brown. Some of the big brands that do it well are Ralph Lauren, J. Crew, Lacoste and and much more.
Some of the looks you can emulate if this is the look you like:
The Free Style : is where anything goes. You get to pick the look for yourself and it doesn't even have to match or make sense. You can wear whatever you like whenever you like, however you like. You can mix and match styles but for me it must be something that makes you feel good to walk outside of your house with confidence.
Some of my favourite outfits for this category are:
The Modern Style : is any fashion outfit or garment that has become popular since the beginning of the 20th Century. This includes overalls, tuxedos, ball gowns, and everything in between. So for this decade, jeans, tights and fun accessories have been the in thing. But it could be whatever you love to wear the most.
Some of the outfits I think of when I hear about modern outfits:
The Athletic Style/ Athleisure: is an athletic and leisure fusion which has taken off all around the world. It is a trend that allows you to be very comfortable in clothing that is also well made and good enough to do athletic things in it.
The most famous brands that do this the best are Lululemon, Lorna Jane, Adidas and Cotton On.
Some of the outfits that you'll see for this trend are:
TIPS: When you're interested in something do your research and look at the things you like and don't like. Don't just take someone's word for anything, look for your own opinion and make your own decisions.
