WHAT TYPE OF OUTERWEAR TO WEAR?

Let's start from the thing that I think is the most import thing about fashion other than the look, colour, style, comfort and even price. Is the warmth. You need to start right there since the whole point of outerwear is to keep you warm and even dry. It is a bonus if it is waterproof but it isn't a deal breaker if it isn't waterproof.
But the first thing to look for is the thickness of the fabric and how good the quality is. If it has a thick outer layer and then a thick inner layer, it most probably is going to be a really good jacket or coat.

The next step to finding and buying a jacket or coat is to now go into the style of it.
Look at the :
* Size.
* Colour.
* Length.
* Thickness.
* Fabric.
* Weight.
* The Style.
* The Look.
* And of course the Price.

Let's talk about size. You will need to take into consideration how many layers you will wear underneath the jacket or coat. If you are like me, in winter I dress like an onion and I look like a snowwoman.
Maybe get one size larger than your normal size so you can have a bit of wiggle room.
And never buy a jacket or coat without trying it without your winter layers on.

Colour is a big one, and this might go contrary to a lot of things I've spoken about in my previous blog posts.
If you wear a lot of black, grey, white or any other monochrome colour, it is not only acceptable but sometimes very necessary to wear a pop of colour. A red, pink, yellow or other bold colour is a fun way to add a bit of something in winter, since everything is so dark, gloomy and cold.

The length of a jacket or coat depends on what you like to wear, your height and your body type.
Regardless of all of the above, every coat or jacket should be very feminine.
The longer the outerwear the warmer you will be.
The shorter it is, the more fashionable it will be.
Also think about how to keep warm when you do wear short jackets or coats.

The thickness of the jacket or coat is one of the most crucial factors of choosing which one to buy and wear.
Look at how thin the fabric is and how padded it is or isn't.

The weight of the coat or jacket is going to add to the weight of your clothes, since you will be wearing a lot of layers, you don't want to be bogged down by what you wear.
Too light, it won't warm you.
Choose wisely.

The style of the jacket or coat will rely on your personal style. If you don't have your own style, you will go for a generic style.
But if you know what you like, you will get the appropriate one. Like if you are classical, modern, preppy, gothic, emo, trendy, a fashionista, or any other of the myriad styles.
Either stick to your own style, or go bold and try something new.
You will never know if you like something if you never try anything other than your usual.

The look of the jacket or coat is important if you make it important. You can consider where you will wear :
* At Work.
* At an Event.
* At a Wedding.
* Going Shopping.
* At an Outing.
* Or Anywhere Else.

The last one for today is the price point.
This depends on your budget, your needs and how long you want to keep this garment.
It doesn't mean that the higher you pay the better it will be or the longer it will last.
But it does mean that the quality is usually better.
Really cheap is not usually good quality. And they are almost always synthetic. Go for natural fibers, they are well made and better for you and the environment.

TIP : Always google images for inspiration for the style, colour and brand you want to shop. For women or men. Here is one link you may like:
QUOTE OF THE DAY : "Look at clothing styles, for instance. In the stores or in fashion shows we can perhaps detect some trends and changes from a few months before, but they are usually subtle. Go back to styles 10 years ago, and compared with the present, the differences are quite apparent. Go back 20 years and it is even clearer. With such a distance in time, we can even notice a particular style of 20 years ago that now probably looks a bit amusing and passe."
