Winter is here and in reality no one really wants to dress up for anything other than to get warm. For me, as someone who is affected by winter more than most, I really need to rug up in lots and lots of layers to be warm and stay warm.
I'll teach you in this post how to do it, I'll give you all of my tips and tricks for this winter and the rest to come. And you will love winter as much as I do now.
This first step may sound counter-intuitive but it is the most important one to do as soon as you've had a warm shower, is to put on a singlet top on. This will not only hug your body but keep all the body warmth inside for longer. Since I started doing this in winter, I have stopped getting as cold. And if you have thermals, they would be even better. For me I find I have to wash them too often and that just wears me out. I want my life to be simpler and easier, not harder.
I don't know about you, but I love finding easy solutions to make life more zen. And warm. And cosy. And cute.
The second step is to put on two pairs of socks. I love a thin pair and then a really thick pair on top. This insulates and keeps you warm much easier than any other way. This is great for when you wear boots, uggs or ankle boots. Not so much for office shoes or flats. Although you could try two thin ones together, or one really thick pair. But I find my feet are the first to go cold when I'm starting to get cold.
So keep those tootsies as warm as you can.
The next steps are to wear a warm long sleeve top over the singlet. Then a jumper on top of those. Then a woolen jacket over those. And if you are going out into the open air, a big thick coat to keep all that warmth in. And now you look like an onion. Which is good in case it gets warm outside, you can take a layer off each time. Or when you're indoors again, you can take the coat off and stay warm. And don't forget, if you get as cold as I do, you can wear a pair of tights or thermals under your pants if you wear jeans or tracksuit. But you get the point, the more layers you pile on the more of your natural body temperature you will keep. And that is the point of this post. To stay out of catching any type of cold.
Before I forget the most important last steps are to never forget your wool gloves, scarf and the best one, the beanie. Never go anywhere in winter without these. And my tip is to at least match them with what you're wearing. But if you can't it's no big deal, just keep warm and if fashion is not your forte then that's really ok. I feel like I need to bring a bit of style to everything I put on myself just to feel that bit of class and elegance to everything I do.
And just have fun with it.
TIPS : I have a few tips today for y'all, and this one has nothing to do with fashion, but one I'd like to mention nevertheless. Drink lots of hot drinks like tea, they will keep you warm and cosy. And the second one, is to not forget even in winter to make sure your outfit matches and the colours are similar. Third tip is that if ever you wear wool, clean the lint off of them with a link machine (they are cheap to buy and well worth it). Keeping your clothes neat and tidy is the classiest thing you can do.
