WHY SOCKS...WHY NOT?

I'm not going to talk about the classic black or white socks you wear to work or to a formal occasion, or colourful bed socks only. No, I'm talking about the ones you choose carefully for an outfit when you want to show them off with your cute shoes too.


WHAT TYPES OF MATERIALS ARE SOCKS MADE FROM:

Your socks could be synthetic but most probably not, and you would be better off if they weren't so you don't sweat or worse, to get an infection.

Socks are mostly made from:

  • Cotton

  • Wool

  • Cashmere

  • Silk

  • Lace

  • Netting


You do not want them to be:

  • Polyester

  • Synthetics

  • Nylon (except for stockings)


Colours you can choose from are:

  • Black

  • White

  • Patterns

  • Cartoons

  • Polka dots

  • Stripes

  • Colourful

  • Neutrals

  • Abstract designs

  • Rainbow

  • Fruit

  • Any colour you wish


The thickness of them can vary from:

  • Ultra-thin

  • Thin

  • Sheer

  • Medium thickness

  • Thick

  • Really thick


The length of them may be:

  • To the ankle

  • To the shin

  • To the knee

  • To the thigh

  • To the waist (stockings)

  • Don't forget the leg warmers in winter.


What occasion to wear them to:

  • To work

  • Out for dinner

  • To sports

  • To an event

  • To a party

  • To an evening out

  • To the shops

  • Anywhere you want

WHAT TO PAIR THEM WITH:

Please don't wear socks with sandals/Birkenstocks, or even thongs, it is a really ugly look. This is all about having fun with your outfits but also looking classy along the way. Knowing how far to take fashion and where to stop.

In my opinion, socks look the best with high heels, stiletto shoes or Mary Jane's.

But also look really good with sneakers, boots and some loafers.

But I'm talking more about high fashion here.
