WHAT IS THIS ALL ABOUT? :
There is so much written about the whole minimalist movement and there are a lot of people who think that this is all about depriving yourself. But in reality, it is all about keeping the best things in your life and getting rid of all the things that don't improve your life. For me, this changed my life for the better as I went through all of my things and sorted them out in 3 categories. The first were the best things I love and use. The second things were the things I wanted to donate or gift. And the last are the things that are so old and ratty that they aren't worth giving or selling.
HOW CAN I HAVE A LOT OF CLOTHES AND BE A MINIMALIST? :
Having a lot of clothes isn't always the most important thing in life. Having very few doesn't make sense either. Having the amount that works for you is the balance needed. Being a minimalist isn't the point of this, it's all about having all the clothes that have good quality, fit you well, make you happy when you wear them, and match all together so it makes your life really easy every day to get dressed and deal with the world in a confident way. When you dress well, you feel well.
WHY IS HAVING MINIMAL THINGS IMPORTANT? :
It isn't that important to own less, it is important to own the best. And not keep the things that you look at and feel dread. Something you bought in the shops may not work for you when you get home. Many times I have thought of the ways I'd wear something, and then I take it home and it doesn't look the same because the mirror in the shop made me look good, I was in a great mood when I bought it, or I hadn't eaten all day and it fit me well, but after i ate it wasn't the same. There are many more reasons why this would happen, again that's not the important thing here. The most important thing is to know what you want, go for it and then try it out with your other clothes. Always go shopping with a list, having a motive is imperative. This will keep your closet at a minimal. And keep going through your clothes at least every three months to see if they still work for you.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? :
There are a few ways to do this. You can start with a capsule wardrobe.
Or do the 333 challenge by Courney Carver (Linked here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEM3xua-n94 ).
This is where you choose 33 pieces in your wardrobe for 3 months. These are pieces of clothing that all work together. It will teach you to work with less. I personally haven't tried it but have wanted to. Personally I find that I love all the things I have in my wardrobe, even the ones I don't wear much. I love accessories the most and couldn't get rid of them. I love having options, mixing and matching, and I get bored easily. I want to be surrounded by the things I have hand picked. I don't want to be deprived. But I also don't want to have way too much that I always end up wearing the same old thing every day. As long as you can have good access to your things and you remember what you own, it is all good.

WHAT IS MINIMAL AND HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH? :
This is completely up to you and no one else. You decide how much you want to own and how much to get rid of. Some people love to own a lot and some don't. It is ok whichever you choose. Clothes are an expression of how you feel, so if you feel like they are not important to you, then that's ok too. But if you want to be your best self, you'll put some thought into what you wear. Whether it is conservative, classic, or more flamboyant. It really shows your personality. It can be fun if you let yourself enjoy it.
TIP : Get out of your comfort zone. Try constraints to force you to be more creative with the things you wear for a while.
