FIND YOUR OWN STYLE

Updated: Aug 19, 2020

HOW HARD IS IT:

This may be the single hardest thing to work out in your fashion wardrobe. It is easy to define, but hard to suit a style to your body type, to your lifestyle and to your needs. And sticking to it is even harder. The thing you love may not correlate to your lifestyle, hence you are not wearing what you really love. This usually happens when you haven't got it set in your mind. Going out and buying anything that shines at you in the shops is the number one mistake. Before whipping out your cash to buy anything next time you go shopping, do your research.

Ask yourself these questions:

* What style do I want?

* Where am I going to wear these clothes?

* Do I need this?

Finding your style is NOT boring. It will save you a lot of money in the end, it will mean that a lot more clothes match, and it means you won't need to keep purchasing items that sit in your closet with tags that never get worn.

HOW TO FIND A STYLE:

There are many types of styles. Some of the most common ones are:

* Classic Style.

* Sports/ Athletic Style.

* Conservative Style.

* Preppy Style.

* Office Work Style.

* Creative Work Style.

* Boho Style.

* Elegant Style.

* Flamboyant Style.

* Eccentric Style.

* Emo/ Gothic Style.

* Essential/ Minimal Style.

* Everything else.

Only when you experiment will you find your own style. Keep doing your research and see what you keep going back to. Find all the parts to your style and stick to it.

THE THREE MAIN GROUPS TO LOOK AT:

The clothing:

(the actual outfits to wear).

The accessories:

(the bag, shoes, belts, jewellery, stockings and more).

The final touches:

(the make-up, hairstyle, nail-polish, scarf, hat).

IT'S YOUR CHOICE:

As you can see, there are so many styles and so many different types of clothes you can wear and try out. Clothes don't need to be boring. It's the way you wear clothes that makes it your style. So I recommend you look through your own wardrobe and just try to wear them in a new way. Maybe buy some new accessories and not buy new clothes at all. It can be so fun. And you don't have to wear the same style every day. I usually wear whatever I want according to my mood. One day it might be classic, the next it might be flamboyant, or even preppy. I don't put myself in a box. I allow myself to be free with my love of trying new things out whenever I want. Just keep trying things out.

TIP: If you don't want to buy anything new, borrow something from a sibling or a friend to try out before you end up being sure you love something. Be respectful of their belongings and give them back once you have used them, and give them back in perfect condition.

style is eternal."
