IS THIS PROMOTING CONSUMERISM?
No, this is all about replacing and or mending what you already own.
Sometime we keep things till they fall apart. I know I have done this for a long time, feeling guilty for buying new things or throwing things out.
We all know how bad the fashion industry is since it was shipped to countries outside of our own. We have no control over who works in the sweat shops and who gets the money for this lucrative business. But what we do have control over is how much we consume. It's great to be mindful but also think about your needs too.
And since we don't know what goes on beyond the shop we buy these products from, we need to buy smart. And the more we do this, the better it is for all.
If you own something that is of great quality, like a cashmere coat, this is well worth mending. But if you have old socks with three holes in them, then get rid of them and replace them with new ones. I see so many people who are too lazy to go out and buy new socks, but once you do, it will make a positive difference in your life.
By decluttering the individual pieces in your wardrobe, you'll have a much more put together wardrobe and it will be much more simpler to pick up the good bits of your wardrobe when the bad pieces are not there. It's all about having a convenient way to live on your day to day life.
Anything that can help you simplify your choices, can only be positive. You have to go thru your wardrobe at least once a year to ask yourself what you want to do with them.
You have to dig deep and really be honest if you want to keep something and if it fits you, if it suits you and if it matches other clothes and your style in general.
TIPS: Learn to let go of things even if they bring you joy, if they are not in good condition any more. There is nothing worse than clothes in terrible condition.
