MY OUTFITS

Updated: Aug 11, 2020

THE CREATOR:

I feel like I have earned the right to talk about my fashion outfits, as I have worn every type of outfit almost possible. Because of this, I feel I can talk about my own style and what I have worn so I can inspire you to go out and wear whatever you want to.

Even though we are at a time and place of lockdown and not really having anywhere to go, I still feel it is more important now to look after yourself, than ever.

And the journey you take to find your own style and actually try new things out is more important than being trendy or have the most incredible outfit. It's all about being comfortable with your own clothes and having a way to express your own unique style.

Never give up, even if you are on a tight budget. I don't let society tell me I don't need to worry about looking after myself. It is super important to look the part. Every time I walk outside my front door, I put in the effort so I can get better results in my life.

The more you love yourself and look after yourself, the more others will respect you.

HOW DO I DESCRIBE MY STYLE:

I would call my own style as Classic Flamboyance. Depending on my mood and where I am going, I'll wear a different outfit. I love the basics, colours and patterns. But I am especially in love with accessories. I have grown up wearing hats and lots of costume jewellery. But I also love belts, bags and shoes. It can get really tricky to juggle all of these things together when the colours don't match, but I have slowly transitioned to a more neutral palette and most of my pieces match now. So when I have an idea or see an outfit I want to create or copy, I have the correct ones so I don't have to go out and buy much more. And since living in the country for a while now, I have a more modern country style that is comfortable for me. I do get in the mood sometimes for a crazy outfit and I never stop myself from wearing it. But they are far and few. But I always love to wear comfort.

MY OUTFITS:

Everyone has their own style, or at least their own opinion on what is good or not.

As a very creative person, I create outfits every day of my life. And I am okay with people criticising my style, being jealous of it, or ignoring it. It's up to the individual for the way they feel about what style means to them. This is just my own unique style and I have always loved being a bit ahead of time. I get inspired from a lot of different things I see around me, from Pinterest, to google, to movies and people on the street. I make a note of it and try it for myself. I don't really mind if an outfit is met with weird stares. At least I know I have tried something new and can put it in my 'done' list. I would rather do it and have something funny to talk about, rather than always be wondering how it would feel or look to wear something and not do it. This might sound weird to some, but the turning point for me was the day I decided to lose weight. Two years ago I embarked on changing my eating habits and get back to some fitness. The first thing I did was to quit sugar, stop eating any kind of junk food, and eat lots of fruit, vegetables meat and dairy. I also started walking on the treadmill and lost 15 kilos. This helped me fit into my clothes better, and I felt more comfortable in what I wore. In turn, felt better about myself. This might not be important to many people, but for me, it was a long time goal that I finally reached and made me feel like I can do many more things for myself. The thing is that the new habits took a long slow process. The same applies for fashion. It takes time. But with persistence, your can achieve any small or large goal you want to.

MY THOUGHTS:

Being a creative person I constantly have many ideas and love spreading the word. What has been difficult is the part where the people around take those ideas and use them without crediting the source or networking with each other. Just taking and not giving back is not an ideal situation for anyone. The world doesn't work that way. Even though someone may not say it in words, doesn't mean that it isn't happening. I am being honest in this blog and cannot be any other way. If the truth hurts, maybe you need to look at the real reason why. I'm tired of having to tip toe around people who don't say what they mean. I believe it is time to come clean with real issues in a world of lies.

IMAGES OF MY OUTFITS:

For a long time, I had the feeling that people no longer cared about outfits and getting dressed up for the reason that they didn't have anywhere to go. Even if I'm just going to the shops I like to put an effort. I mainly dress in casual clothes these days since I moved to the country, but I have always loved going out to dress up. These are some of mine from recent times, before my neutral palette.

I always place my clothes on the floor to see if they match, I'll get into how to create an outfit from scratch in the next post. It's a fun way to utilise all your clothes.

TIP: Make sure that each piece of clothing you buy has three ways to be worn, that means, that you have three alternative outfits with each garment. When you pick up something you want to buy, have three outfits in your head by the time you go home you will already have some fun ideas to wear with your new purchase.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "What you wear is how you present yourself to the world,

especially today, when human contacts are so quick.

Fashion is instant language".
